Airplane Alley (aka Binjiang Street Lane 180, or Airport Alley) is a small viewing platform that allows one to see airplanes landing and taking off from Songshan Airport in Taipei. It is a popular spot for plane spotters, aviation enthusiasts, and photographers. It should be on your list if you are looking for unique views in Taipei.
Background: Airplane Alley, officially Lane 180 of Binjiang Street, lies on the border of Zhongshan District and Songshan District of Taipei City. It is a small road that connects the south side of the Songshan Airport to the north side. Due to its proximity to the airport, there are no tall buildings nearby obstructing the view. The owners of the nearby farmland are also unable to develop the land or otherwise put it to use, and the Civil Aeronautics Administration is also not willing to take the land, therefore the land nearby continues to sit as empty fields. There are usually lots of people here on weekends, but there is enough room for everyone to watch the airplanes. How to get there: By Car/Scooter: From Minzu East Road in Taipei, turn left at the east side of the airport onto Bijing Street Lane 180. The viewing platform is nearby. Usually we spot airplanes from Neihu Sports Park or Guanshan Riverside Park. 
At the entrance to Lane 180, you will see the Zhongyu Temple (中嶽殿) which is also a popular spot for taking photos.

Neihu Sports Park also has some great views of Songshan Airport. Besides a rock climbing wall, skate park, track, water splashing area, baseball fields, a large playground area, and plenty of grass, there is also a viewing platform directly in front of the Songshan Airport that lets you see airplanes land and take off from a close distance.
