Fuzhoushan Park in Da'an District of Taipei is a lesser known hiking area around a small forested hill. The park also has some of the best views of Taipei anywhere in the city. If you want the views of Elephant Mountain with an even easier walk and no crowds, this is the place for you.
Background: Fuzhoushan is only about 105 meters above sea level, and the entire hike takes less than an hour. The park also includes an old artillery bunker and some grave sites. Some military buildings were destroyed to make the park more fit with nature when the park was created in 2001. I leave in East Taipei so I really don't pass this spot very often, but I am sure it is a nice hiking spot for local residents to enjoy.

"Fuzhoushan Park"
"The trail is 317 meters long linking Fuyang Eco Park with Fuzhoushan Park, it climbs about 25 meters to 95 meters in elevation. Hikers can follow the trail to platforms 60, 93, and 105, or head southward up Zhongpushan, with fine views of Taipei 101 and the cityscape along the way. Fuzhoushan Park was planned by the Taipei City government in 1994 for eco-conservation and forestation. Now, with its paths and pavilions pleasantly set amid luxuriant foliage, it offers and attractive destination on the edge of the city for hiking and commuting with nature. Relatively free from human disturbance and damage, fauna and flora thrive in this park. Here you can observe many kinds of protected animals and native plants, including the Taipei tree frog, Watanabe's lantern fly, the Chinese tallow tree, etc. This makes a fine place for ecological education.
