Neihu Sports Park is one of the best parks in Taipei. Besides a skate park, track, water splashing area, a large playground area, and plenty of grass, there is also a viewing platform directly in front of the Songshan Airport that lets you see airplanes land and take off from a close distance.

Background:
Neihu Sports Park was completed in 2002, and was built above the Neihu Wastewater Treatment Plant. It featured a rock climbing wall, skate park, rubber track, water park, baseball fields, a large playground area, maze, sand pit, and plenty of grass. After renovations in 2025, the rock wall, baseball fields, and maze were taken out. A new playground, splash area, track, and expanded skate park were put in their place. There is also a viewing platform directly in front of the Songshan Airport that lets you see airplanes land and take off from a close distance, which connects to the Keelung Riverside Park. The major changes from the old park are as follows: - No more climbing wall. The old rock wall has been torn down in favor of more space for the skate park. - The old circular playground and slide have been torn down, and a new playground has been created where the big grassy area used to be. - The waterpark splash area has been refrubished and a sand pit has been added. - The old maze has been demolished, and a small trail has been put in its place.
Here is a map of the new sports park as of 2026. The main attraction now is the skate park.
I have to admit that I was sad to see the rock wall go. That was the main reason I first came to this park. Now where will Taipei residents go to rock climb for free? I don't think tearing it down was necessary; there was plenty of room for it elsewhere.
But Taipei skaters are for sure happy with the added space.
There are lots of quarter pipes and at least one half pipe.
Also, they took the four pipes that linked to an underground sand pit and made them into these fake grass hills, and made a bunch of new playground equipment.
A new climbing area.
Another park area that will feature a river in the summer months.

The old sand pit area has now been covered in grass.
There used to be a small playground and slide here.

The waterpark is not open in the winter, but should open in summer months (6/1~9/30) from 8 AM to 5PM (except Mondays). It is a fun splash area for kids.
They have also added a new sand pit area here.
There is also a new trampoline jumping area.
There is also still a large gathering area and grass area for groups here at the park.

Nei Sports Park Pre-2025: Below is the former post I made before 2025. I have been to Neihu Sports Park countless times. It is a great place to watch airplanes, and one of the few places in Taipei with a rock climbing wall and a skate park. In fact, the first time I came here in 2013 was because of its rock climbing wall.
Main steps leading up to the park on the east side.
The rock climbing wall in all its glory.
The wall here features an arch, so you can monkey grab your way across the roof if you have strong enough hands.
This park is also great because it has a half pipe and other skate board equipment. There is also a baseball feild in the background.
There is also a traditional slide playground area here and a large sand pit connected to the playground by underground pipes.
There is also a water splash area that you can see in the background here that is only open in the summer.

The splash area also has this wooden boardwalk and fountain.
Closer view of the fountain.
There are wide grassy areas here too, as well as a nice bathroom.
Another view of the skate park area.
Recently they have created this airplane themed bike path on the bridge that connects the park to the Keelung River.
You can ride a bike down from here to the river.
