With multiple skyscrapers, upscale shopping malls, international restaurants, hotels, cinemas, and more, Xinyi Shopping District in Taipei is known as the Manhattan of Taiwan, and the world's densest commercial district. It has also become a financial center with many companies creating their Taiwan headquarters here. It is also a great place for visitors to shop and enjoy the most vibrant part of Taipei.
Background: Xinyi Shopping District is roughly the area of Xinyin Planning District (信義計畫區) which was designed in the 1970s. Before that time, the area was mainly empty fields for farming. The goal of the plan was to ease pressure off of the old crowded city center around Ximending and Taipei Station. The area is over 153 Hectares and includes 15 department stores, including Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, Taipei 101 Mall, Xinyi Breeze, and more, making it the world's densest commercial district. Hours: Most department stores are open from 11 AM to 10 PM. How to get around in Taipei: Taipei's transportation system is convenient and safe. There are many options you can consider to get around in Taipei below: By Train: Gets you to the city center of all major cities in Taiwan. It is about 800NT to get from Taipei to Kaohsiung. Roughly half the price of the HSR. Book tickets via the normal train (TRA) on Klook here. By HSR: (High-Speed Rail) – Gets you quickly from north to south. Besides Taipei and Kaohsiung, most of the stations are far from city centers. It costs about 1500NT to get from Taipei to Kaohsiung. B, D, F, and H are residential areas. Our Journey: I have been to Xinyi Shopping District dozens of times. Some of the best restaurants in Taipei can be found here, as well as the most shopping options, and the Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan and the former tallest building in the world from 2004-2009 at 101 floors high. If you are in the area, you should check out the Taozhu Yinyuan Building which is meant to look like a double helix or DNA Strand. It is one of the most iconic buildings in the area besides the Taipei 101.
Taozhu Yinyuan, also known as Agora Garden, is 21 floors high, 93 meters tall, and was completed in 2018. It has won numerous design and architecture awards, and is a diamond level low carbon building.

Fubang Xinyi A25 Headquarters 富邦信義A25總部
Besides the Taipei 101. there are quite a few new skyscrapers in the area. This new Fubon Insurance Tower was completed in 2022. It is 54 stories tall.
Taipei Nan Shan Plaza 臺北南山廣場
Taipei Nanshan Plaza also sits next to the Taipei 101 kind of like a queen chess piece to the king. It is 48 stories tall, 272 meters high, and was completed in 2017.
Farglory Financial Center 遠雄金融中心
The Farglory financial center was completed in 2013 and is 32 floors high. It is one of the older buildings in Taipei's Manhattan but still newer than the Taipei 101.
Cathay Landmark 國泰置地廣場
The Cathay Landmark is 46 floors high and is 212 meters tall. It was completed in 2015.
Between all these landmarks, there are multiple department stores and upscale malls to explore.

There are also malls in the Cathay and Nanshan buildings.

The old Eslite 24 hour bookstore which sadly recently closed.

There are also many street side cafes and pedestrian walking areas.
A6 Mall.
The Sky Taipei 台北天空塔
At the time of writing, the Sky Taipei is still under construction but will become the second tallest building in Taiwan at 280 meters, and 56 floors high. Construction is expected to be completed in 2024.
FE 21 Mall.
