The bicycle paths along the Keelung River near the Rainbow Bridge are some of the most accessible and fun places to go cycling in Taipei. There is also a bike rental shop under the First MacArthur Bridge (麥帥一橋) nearby. You can also try to rent a Youbike from a nearby station. Here you can enjoy some of the best scenery in Taipei, the nearby Roahe Street Night Market, and see the planes take off and land from Songshan Airport.
Background: The rainbow bridge was completed in 2005 and is 167 meters long. The bike paths along the Keelung River were completed at about the same time, so it quickly became a popular place to go cycling. On weekends you will be able to see hundreds, even thousands of people riding their bikes in this area. Hours: 24/7 Bike rental: Open on weekends and holidays from 8 AM to 5 PM. Our Journey: I have biked along the Keelung River near Rainbow Bridge countless times. However, it was really hard for me to find the bike rental station. I had always heard you could rent bikes here, but I could never find the location, until this fateful day.
We parked the car in the parking lot just in front of the MacArthur Bridge. The bike rental place is under the MacArthur Bridge.

There are also some baseball fields here.

You can also get here from Neihu but there are some stairs.
Finally, we found the bike rental place under the MacArthur Bridge.
However we found out fast that there were no adult bikes left.
But it seems children's bikes are always in plentiful supply here.
Another view of the bike rental place. They do not have a ton of bikes, to be honest.
Our kids had bikes, but now we had to go find bikes somewhere. We decided to look at Youbike stations.
Finally after searching three different Youbike Stations, we found one with bikes. And we got to see this airplane land at Songshan Airport.
Neihu sports park is a great place to watch airplanes. Check out our full blog on the park here.

Raohe Street Night Market is a bustling night market in Eastern Taipei, and one of the most popular in the city. One could argue that Roahe Street is the best night market in Taipei, but this blog was not written to prove that debate. With a large assortment of great food and snacks, along with the usual night market cheap clothes and everyday items, along with close proximity to public transport, Raohe Street is a must-see destination when you come to Taipei.
